The Coeur d'Alene area has excellent utility service for its residents with adequate capacity for future expansion. Avista Utilities and Kootenai Electric Cooperative provide electric service for residential, commercial and industrial users. Natural gas also is provided by Avista Utilities.

  • Small Commercial(per kWh): $.07
  • Large Commercial (per kWh): $.05
  • Industrial (per kWh): $.04

Average Natural Gas Rates

  • Residental & Small Commercial (per therm): $1.10
  • Large Commercial (per therm): $1.05

Kootenai County telephone service is provided by Verizon Communications as well as multiple voice over Internet providers.  There are a number of Internet Serice Providers supplying high bandwidth Internet connections to homes and businesses and a variety of carriers that supply business telephone and data services including: XO Communications, Timer Warner Telecom, 180 Networks, Liberty Lake Internet Exchange, Northwest Telephone and Noel Communications.  In addition, Columbia Fiber Solutions has an extensive fiber optic network throughout Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls and serves any local organization with private metropolitan area networks.  Cable television is provided by Time Warner Cable.
