Chamber Supports School District 271 Plant and Facilities Levy The Chamber Board of Directors recently voted to support the School District Levy, to be voted upon on May 20th. The $31.1 million levy will fund a new Lakes Middle School, new elementary school, provide funds for land acquisition and allow for district-wide technology upgrades. The remaining $4.5 million from the 2002 SPFL will also be used in the Lakes Middle School project. The School District Board recently announced publicly that it has made a solemn commitment to not allow projects to go above the projected costs. It believes that project estimates are as accurate as possible, however, if the projects exceed the budgeted expense, The District will not borrow money from other projects and will, instead, scale down the working project in order to guarantee its completion within budget. It is their pledge to bring the two construction projects at the estimated costs or less in order to guarantee each project addressed by this levy.

Business Opportunities, Workshops & Seminars |
Commodore Trailer Advertising The Commodores are seeking businesses who wish to take advantage of a unique advertising opportunity. The Commodores build, maintain & operate a community float which appears in 10-15 parades per year, normally with community royalty. The sponsoring businesses who make a financial commitment will receive space for signage on the float trailer. Participation in the program is limited to Chamber members only. The Commodores will attempt to limit participation to only one business from a business classification. (For example, only one tire company, only one insurance company, etc.) The sponsorship cost is $350.00 per year. For more information or to contribute as a sponsor, contact Brenda at 415-0110.
