Chamber Takes No Position on Increased Vehicle Registration Fees, Jail Levy The Chamber's Public Policy Committee has recommended that the Chamber stay neutral on the Local Option Vehicle Registration Fee and the Jail Levy on the November 4th election ballot. In a recent survey of our members on the Vehicle Registration Fee increase, the 160 Chamber members who responded were split 50/50 on the issue. Therefore, the Public Policy Committee has voted to not take any position regarding this issue. In addition, the Public Policy committee has decided to not support the $145 million proposed jail levy in response to our struggling economy although they do recognize there is a need to expand the jail and comprehensively address the County's facilities needs. Click here to see results of the Vehicle Registration Fee Survey. If you have questions or are interested in being involved with the Chamber's Public Policy efforts, please contact Jonathan Coe at 415-0104

Chamber to Host Candidate Receptions The Chamber's Public Policy Committee will be hosting two Candidates' Forums in October. The first, on October 21st, will feature candidates for County Commissioner and the contested North Idaho College Trustee position. The second, on the 28th, will be for District 4 legislative candidates. Both will be held at the Chamber Office and will begin at 5:00 p.m. These receptions are planned as an opportunity for Chamber members to meet the candidates in an informal, networking session and then to hear each candidate speak for about five minutes.
